“Jacob—Why UX Design?”
I have a decade of web development experience under my belt. I started with small manually-coded websites and evolved to highly customized WordPress themes. Meanwhile, I have academically pursued graphic design and was able to support marketing teams with small design projects like digital marketing collateral or print design. In recent years I’ve fused visual design and web development together to produce user-friendly digital content. When I learned UX design was parallel to a lot of the processes I was already using (and then some) I became very interested.
What is UX Design?
User Experience Design is a term for creating desirable experiences with the end-user in mind. UX design isn’t so much what something looks like, as it is how something works.
The UX design process puts the user at the center of the problem designers aim to solve through methods like empathy mapping, user and market research, ideation, prototyping, and testing. This process is cyclical and is the driving force behind versioning of software, products, or services that incrementally improve over time.
